This Privacy Policy explains how Carnal Jerky collects, uses, and shares personal information when you visit carnaljerky.com, place an order, or contact us. For privacy questions or requests, email orders@carnaljerky.com.

Information we collect

• Website activity: browser and device information, IP address, cookie information, pages and products viewed, searches, referring websites, and interactions with our website.
• Orders and checkout: contact information, billing and shipping addresses, items ordered, payment and transaction information, and order history. Payment information is processed through our checkout and payment providers.
• Customer support: contact details, order information, and information you choose to include in messages, such as photos of a damaged item.
• Marketing preferences: subscription and advertising choices you share with us.

We collect information directly from you when you shop or contact us, automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use the website, and from service providers involved in payments, delivery, analytics, and advertising.

How we use information

We use personal information to operate the store, process payments, fulfill and deliver orders, provide customer support, communicate about orders, detect fraud, maintain security, understand website performance, and improve our products and services. We also use information for marketing and advertising, subject to applicable consent requirements and your choices.

Service providers and other disclosures

We share information with providers that help us run the business, including our ecommerce platform, payment providers, shipping and fulfillment providers, customer support and email services, analytics providers, and advertising partners. The information shared depends on the service being provided.

Shopify powers our online store, and Shopify Network Intelligence is enabled. Shopify may combine personal information about your interactions with our store, other merchants, and Shopify to provide services to us and other merchants, including personalized advertising.

You can also use Shopify's Privacy Portal to manage choices and submit requests about Shopify's use of your information. These Shopify controls are separate from requests to Carnal Jerky, which you can send to orders@carnaljerky.com. Our Google measurement and advertising services are described below.

We may also disclose information when necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, prevent fraud, or protect our rights and the safety of others.

Google analytics, measurement, and advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website and Google Ads to measure website activity associated with advertising. Cookies, tags, and similar technologies can send Google information about visits, product views, purchases, and other interactions.

Through our Shopify integration, we may use Google's enhanced conversions and Customer Match features with customer information provided directly to us, subject to applicable consent requirements and opt-out choices. These features use hashed customer identifiers, such as email addresses, for matching with Google accounts. Enhanced conversions help measure purchases associated with advertising. Customer Match helps us reach matched customers with advertising on Google services. Hashing changes an identifier into a coded value for matching; it does not make the information anonymous.

Your advertising and cookie choices

U.S. visitors can use our data-sharing opt-out page to manage data-sharing choices. For other privacy requests, or if you need help using that page, email orders@carnaljerky.com.

You can request that we stop using your customer information for Customer Match or other targeted advertising by emailing orders@carnaljerky.com. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

• Manage Google's personalized-ad settings through My Ad Center.
• For supported desktop browsers, Google offers a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• Use your browser's settings to manage or block cookies. Blocking necessary cookies may affect checkout or other website features.
• Use the unsubscribe link in marketing emails to stop those emails. Order and service messages are separate from marketing subscriptions.

Google's settings, browser cookie controls, and email unsubscribe choices have different scopes. They do not necessarily stop every form of information sharing or substitute for a request to us about Customer Match or applicable sale, sharing, or targeted-advertising rights.

Legal bases, where applicable

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, our processing may be necessary to fulfill our contract with you, meet legal obligations, or pursue legitimate interests such as operating and protecting our business where those interests do not override your rights. Consent is a legal basis for uses such as advertising where required by law.

Retention and international processing

We retain order records and other personal information for business purposes such as fulfilling orders, providing support, maintaining accounting records, addressing disputes, and meeting legal obligations. Retention depends on the information and its purpose. You can request deletion, subject to applicable exceptions.

Shopify and other providers may process information outside your state or country, including in Canada and the United States. Their privacy notices provide additional information about their processing and international transfers.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to access or obtain a copy of your personal information, correct it, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and opt out of targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of personal information. Sharing identifiers or website activity with advertising partners may fall within legal definitions of sale or sharing, even where no money is exchanged.

For residents of the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, applicable rights also include data portability and protections concerning decisions based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects. Contact us with questions about an order decision or to request review.

To exercise a right or designate an authorized agent, email orders@carnaljerky.com. We may need information to verify a request and an agent's authority. Rights are subject to applicable exceptions, including information needed for legal obligations or completing a transaction. You may also have the right to appeal a response or complain to your local data protection authority. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

Children's information

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information that should not have been collected, contact orders@carnaljerky.com to request review and deletion.

Meta Ads Automation App (internal use)

We operate an internal automation app that connects to Meta's Marketing API solely to manage advertising for Carnal Jerky. Data processed may include ad account IDs, campaign and ad metadata, and access tokens used for those operations. For data deletion or export requests related to this app, email orders@carnaljerky.com with the subject “Delete Meta App Data.”
